What's blogging for if not for sharing ideas? Even if I can't claim the ideas, I'll at least pass them along.
When I signed up to help with art in Jemma's class this year I didn't realize that meant teach it every other week, alternating with our school's Art Specialist. I've been at the library and on the Internet searching for simple art lessons and projects and I'm finally getting around to documenting what I've been finding.

This week we painted a simple landscape in (Q-Tip) pointillism style, a la Georges Seurat. I'm always impressed with how creative the kids are. Whether it's the influence of their Art Specialist, or the general uninhibited nature of being a child, they seem to catch on to the concepts quickly and really take off with their own ideas and style.

That's a cool idea, I'm glad you shared it.
I think it's odd that you're offer "to help" has turned into you officially teaching art every other week, what in the world?
Ohhhh my my, i LOVE THIS IDEA, it looks like saureat....I know IT IS late, you know that painting by the water....with the girl in the black dress and red hat? oh my this is wonderful! I love love love it. thanks for sharing
I am surprised too that you somehow got wrangled into teaching art, not just helping. That would have thrown me for a loop since I'm not a big artist. This is a really cute idea!
I'm sure they appreciate that you are able to come consistently and that you do because that is a huge committment. I love kids art and love when they are given the opportunity and encouragement to be creative.
How completely fuN! I love little artists - they did such a great job! I'll have to remind myself of these styles through your links! THanks! How are you? lol, Michelle :)
I love this! What a fun way to work on pointillism.
That's so neat. Belle will love it.
This is the best idea! Definitely swiping it. I'm going to try to plan a few art projects (simple ones) for my kids--based on specific artists.
