Rather than try to squeeze in our San Diego trip before school starts we ended up taking a staycation today. I keep seeing articles and hearing mention of this term - the staycation. It's what people opt for when a more conventional vacation isn't feasible or doesn't work out.Last night Chris said he'd arranged for the day off and suggested we go to the lake. It ended up being a great idea.

The lake was beautiful.

We relaxed and enjoyed the sun and the water, got some great wakeboarding and skiing in, and had some peace and quiet. You could almost say it was a perfect way to spend the day...
except for a few work-related phone calls:
...and an encounter with some very green water (poor Jordan):
Here's the lone white duck that lives in the harbor.

So if you're looking for a quick way to get away, I highly recommend the staycation!

Looked like a fun day. What a great way to end the summer. I bet Jemma is excited for school. We have all day kindergarted here.
I have never heard that term before, but it's perfect what you're talking about.
I had hoped to throw together a staycation last week when my travel ideas for us didn't work out, but we didn't even end up with that.
I think staycation are great and yours looks like a lot of fun! That green water I keep seeing in several blogs, and I have to ask - does it smell?...Anyway, cute picture of the lone duck and great idea to stay home and enjoy the area you live in!
Thanks for popping in to say hi. I see you're related to Tami M. How fun. I love her, I think she's a doll.
And I recognize Jill and Michelle from their comments above, we must float in the same blog circles! =)
Like that term, "staycation." That's great. Utah Lake is super warm, that's for sure. I just don't think I can bring myself to go back this summer. Too murky.
I'll be back there in the spring though!
Looks like you guys had a heck of a lot of fun.
it kind of feels like you are getting away with something when you can all get together and do something in the middle of the week.
Love it, a staycation is less stressfull, and just as much fun if not more!
We did a staycation in July. We also had a wonderful time!
Ha, I have read those articles too, it cracks me up. One of them said to get some asian decor, eat with chopsticks while sitting on the floor, and play chinese music. I thought, "Hmm, not quite the same" but I guess we do what we can. Your staycation looks like much more fun! Good for you.
It looks like we would have been better off going on a staycation instead of squeezing in san diego. We haven't had one lake day this summer. Lake Powell will be fun.
how funny about Wendi...I got connected to her through crystal....heheheheh small world. I heard that term this summer because of high gas prices and such...but what fun to have that alternative. Hey any time you want to come and stay a couple of days or a week...let me know.
where are you? in the pictures....
that green water looks like something out of the hulk movie
