Jordan, last week, decided he was going to be the Joker. And then he wasn't, and then he was, and then he wasn't and then Greg offered to paint his face so he became...
Supergirl, who had been using (or maybe just posing with) her superpowers all day, suddenly lost her bravery when the villain materialised. She kept her distance and didn't want to look at him. We had to keep reminding her that superheroes were best at saving people like us from the likes of him. She finally regained her courage and took him on.
Oh, wait, that's a boy.
It always seems like, remembering Halloweens past, you tend to see a lot of adults out and about in costume. And sometimes it's questionable as to whether or not it's a costume. You know, like...
maybe that is a real nun. with a baby.
maybe that's his real mullet.
I usually don't dress up or make any attempt to dress up on Halloween, but I was going to stop in at work for a costume party and had mentioned to Jemma that I didn't have a costume, so she adorned me with some pieces from her princess witch costume and I went out like this:
...and had to stop at Albertson's where NO ONE else in the whole store, not even little kids, were dressed up. I was very self-conscious. Then I got to work and had to walk past rows of cubicles of normal looking people, just doing their work on a regular Friday. On the way out my hat blew off in the wind and as I was running across the parking lot to get it some guy stopped me to ask what I was supposed to be! It wasn't apparent?? I was wearing a cape and chasing a witch hat!
Chris surprised me with flowers!
When we started dating, and at the time when I wasn't sure if we were dating or just hanging out once in a while, I was living in a house with seven roommates. Someone in that household was always getting flowers. So on Halloween when another flower delivery showed up I thought nothing of it. Then I caught sight of the card that had my name on it and was signed "love, Chris." That was it. The first boy to give me flowers. Confirmation that he liked me. A tradition begun. There may have been a missed year here and there over the past fourteen, but the best is when I forget (like this year) and it's a happy surprise.
So Happy Halloween!

What the? I loved your witch costume. Alberson's just doesn't get it.
How cute that Jemma was super girl and my Tiago was superman....they would make a cute couple!
I was a witch also and I put the whole thing together the day before halloween...phew!
I love the tradition of getting flowers on Halloween...he's a keeper!!!
cute cute cute, love supergirl, and I love Jordan's costume, I thought that the joker would be a fun face to paint. I love your costume, how funny, I dressed up too, but kept forgetting, so didn't realize why some people talked to me weird(they didn't recognize me) I wasn't that different.
The kids' costumes turned out great! I love all the pictures of Super Girl in action.
Your costume is cute too, it's better than mine turned out for sure. I had to run through Target in costume as well and got a few looks, but I didn't care.
The tradition of getting flowers on Halloween has got to be the sweetest thing ever!!
what a fun day to have a sweet anniversary :o)
oh, and the costumes....GREAT!
Jordans costume looked great, I wouldn't have been able to tell that it was him if he came to the door. Very well done. Our kids were a pumpkin (Jackson), a princess (Maya), and a butterfly (Avery).
Cam and I got a kick out of your albertson's incident! Jo and Jemma looked great. It's nice to see Chris is keeping his tradition alive.
The kids look great. Supergirl has got some good moves!
Sweet tradition of flowers on Halloween.
I was loving the red super-girl boots, but by the end it was the red roses that are my favorite part of this post.
Doesn't it always seem like you are either the only one not dressed up or the only one who is?? That seems to be the case for me.
Love the flowers, and I love that moment in time when you realize that you ARE a couple, for real...very giddy feeling.
That is a great story and an awesome tradition Laurie! Love those costumes, Nini almost went as supergirl - I think it's one of my favorite costumes! btw - how are you?
