The Trouble with Halloween

Arrrgh, the costume dilemma.

Early in the month Jemma was deciding between being a princess, Supergirl or a unicorn. I was hoping the unicorn idea wouldn't take root, so when we came upon a Supergirl costume at Target and she gushed over it I bought it. I usually avoid store-bought costumes, but it's been relief to know the decision is made and we have all she needs. Although she did mention she wants me to make her a blue an red trick-or-treat bag. We'll see.

Jordan, on the other hand, is 12. In case that doesn't explain everything, this is a very tricky age for costume selecting. I was hoping maybe he would be done with trick-or-treating, but his friends all have plans to dress up and go out. He's thinking Bob Marley. I'm thinking, whatever's easy. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

I'll get back to posting with photos...sometime.

Carly was having a hard time this year and we tried to look at costumes online which was disasterous because that led to wanting to be something "goth" and I refused and told her we had to come up with something that she was into or was interested in (which is not goth?) so she decided on being an olympic gymnist. I got a couple of lucky deals and I think she is excited. I don't have any help for a 12 year old boy costume. good luck with that!

I was a Q-tip once. To save myself from embarrassment I will just leave it at that. If you want details email me. LOL!

I hope he figures it out soon!

I was thinking of going as Jack the Bum, from the Halloween book at M & D's. But he can steal that if he wants, or if you want him to.

Max seems intent on going this year as well. He still doesn't have any idea what he wants to be, though...

A blue/red supergirl trick-or-treat bag! Yes, I can see that would really seal the deal. Perhaps something out of felt with raw edges?

i absolutely love reading your blogs, i feel like i have gotten to know you a lot better. i wish we lived close cause you are such a calming person to be around and also very intelligent. I never leave a comment( i think cuz i so easily take and not give) so i just wanted to let you know these things i think about you, how grateful i am you are in my family. bummer about the gum situation. hopefully it will all be worth it. At least your taking care of it before it "could" be a problem. good job on that i just wait til i really don'thave a choice. anyways hope you have a great halloween.

You should have named him Jack; we're learning there's a lot of costume ideas built into that name: Jack in the box, Jack o'lantern, Jack of all trades, etc... You'll know better next time :)

Bob Marley sounds like a good choice, a tye dyed t-shirt and a wig would do it right?
