Fourth of July and More

The fourth was an overcast day and not terribly hot, which was good. Jordan chose to spend the night at Grandma and Grandpa's, doing fireworks, roasting marshmallows over a fire and making smores while watching a movie in the backyard.

Chris, Jemma and I did something else. First we stopped at my parent's to reunite with family. It's been a while since I'd seen some of my brothers and their families, but it had been 10 years since I'd seen a favorite cousin of mine who was in town. It was so fun to reconnect (for 20 minutes). Then we went to the big production at the stadium.

We got there just in time to see the sky divers land on the field -- that was very impressive. Glenn Beck was a lively host. They featured each of the sports that will be part of the summer olymics to music along with 1300 synchronized dancers (our niece, Sydnee, was one of them).

There were touching tributes to the military and their families. The Blue Man Group performed - very entertaining. Miley Cyrus performed - great for all the little girls in attendance, including Jemma (although she was equally as entertained by everything else). And the fireworks were great.

On Saturday we went to the lake for some wake boarding, skiing and wild tube riding. Leanne and Lydia came along.

Later on Leanne gave me an extreme makeover just by doing my hair! I thought it was extreme, although some people didn't notice much difference. Two days later and I'm still feeling revived.

This morning we went to the Cardio Cinema again. Maybe it will be our traditional way to start the week. Mr. & Mrs. Smith was just ending and Ocean's 12 started while we were there. I decided Ocean's 12 is a good type of movie for that setting. What a great way to see films that I wouldn't otherwise go out of my way to see. Only problem is that we don't spend two whole hours on the treadmill, so I'll just have to watch them in bits and pieces.
