This photo of my grandma and me is one of my favorites. My dad framed it for a display at her funeral and it's been on my nightstand ever since then.
Although I don't remember the day this particular photo was taken (too young), I do remember so many mornings just like it. Being wrapped up and carried outside to feed the birds. We would put bits of bread or pancake near the flat smooth stones that were on a shelf attached to the white fence. I remember the smell of lilacs, sound of chirping birds, chill of the morning air, and leaning away from the thorny rose bushes.

The blanket in the photo is old enough that it was used by my dad when he was small. It's wool, so it's getting thin and faded, but I've had it for the past five years and keep it on a shelf where the kids can see it and use it and have it be a part of their lives too.

thanks for sharing such wonderful memories!
That is such a sweet picture.
That's too sweet. I remember Aunt Jessie at church. She made funny comments all the time. She sat with the old ladies, but I always thought she was just being nice and giving them someone to talk to. I didn't realize till much later that she was the same age, they were her friends! She was always younger than her actual age.
What a darling photo to have out!
So sweet-
What wonderful memories, and your description of mornings spent feeding the birds was beautiful, gave me goosebumps. My husband and I still have quilts from our grandmas too. They're priceless.
That is such a cute picture.. What a great treasure to have.
What a cool photo to have, and the blanket too. Great job with this SPT.
What a sweet memory and priceless photo! I love blankets...especially those with history :)
I'm so glad you still have that special blanket and that your children use it too occasionally. That is a beautiful picture of you and your grandmother.
Love that picture
Lovely post, and how special that you still have the blanket.
