Something New - SPT

I'm currently reading a NEW edition of Pride and Prejudice. It's called the Insight Edition: Trivia, Notes, and Inspiration to Amplify This Beloved Classic. It's got notes that include things like historical facts, references to today's culture and comments and asides on the characters.

Some Austen purists might find this kind of commentary in the margins bothersome, but since I never remember how the whole plot unfolds from one reading (or viewing of the movie) to the next, I'm finding the notes amusing and interesting.

It's such a classic book. I'm thoroughly enjoying it (at a leisurely pace too).

What a great idea. Some of her novels are hard to understand and follow and that would make it very fun to read.

That sounds interesting, I've never read a companion type book. I think it would be helpful since P&P is quite complex.

Have you read any of the other sides of P&P, like Mr. Darcy's Diary or An Assembly Such as This? They are on my to-read list, hope I'm not disappointed.

I hate to say it, but I've never read her books... Sounds great though. Maybe I'll get it.

I do love "new" books but I have never tried to get lost in P&P. It has always seemed a little too complex for fun reading. But, it is on the to try in the near future list.

So many women on my birthday list are Jane Austen girls - this is a great gift idea!

That's the kind of book I need to read, so I can know what's going on while I'm reading!

It's funny that you said you get the plot mixed up. I am the same way with all the Jane Austen books. I love them but they are all so similar. Mansfield Park is the most forgettable but Sense and Sensibility is the best, in my opinion, esp. the movie! Enjoy your book!

I am not that close of a follower to jane austen, but have enjoyed her movies thoroughly...but probably cannot tell from story to story...I love english sceneries....and new...for some reason they appeal more to me. Is like renting a movie from the 80s I am not so excited to see as compared to newer ones...funny
