Last Friday night I tweaked my back as I bent down to put the dog in his kennel and was standing up. (I've been making a considerable effort to not blame the dog for my misery.) I will spare you all the painful details, only to say that it was very painful. I ended up spending a lot of time under the influence of a prescription painkiller and muscle relaxer, which definitely helped the situation, but made me kind of loopy.

On Monday Trudy came to Jemma's preschool with some violins to teach the kids about the violin and the letter V. Jemma even got to play for her class, which was very exciting (especially since she had only learned how to play a couple days before).

I managed to endure working and a meeting at work, which I literally could not sit through and ended up standing and sort of pacing at the back of the room. Jemma and I went to a kindergarten orientation at the school, and now she thinks she's already in kindergarten and that next year will be first grade. I also went to physical therapy, which provided some very welcome relief.
It was sitting that was most uncomfortable. But to be safe, and since the doctor recommended it, the kids did a lot of lifting, carrying, and bending for me, which reminds me of Elder Ballard's conference talk today.
Jill sent me a very thoughtful package which included a CD of mellow music and this great card, showing an exercise for a bad back. This back-bending position would have been impossible for me a few days ago. Thanks Jill, it was very nice and good for a laugh too!

As for now, I'm definitely on the mend and it's a good thing since I have some big plans this week!

I'm glad to hear that you are doing better.
glad you are much better...
ow! Back pain is not Fun!!! I seriously never thought I would say this, but try acupuncture, I lived for weeks with back pain, and the acupuncturist at the spa fixed it, although she never actually put needles in me.
oh i am so sorry you have been under the weather...back pains are horrible....I should have been more empathetic with this for ever, since my husband suffers from back pain, but I hope you feel restored. jill's little package is sooo thoughtful!
Welcome back! I'm sorry to hear about your back though. As a long time sufferer of chronic back pain I know how much it sucks. I don't take anything except Aleve now, but sometimes I would appreciate a nice Percocet. Did you stretch a ligament or pull your muscles? Did you check for pinched nerves? I hate hate hate back pain.
ok, I'm a lurker of yours "coming out of the closet". Glad you're on the mend. So now you can say the dog ate your homework AND the dog threw out your back!
I should have known something was wrong and called because I thought it was strange your blog was getting neglected. I am not a s good at posting but I sure enjoy reading your posts so I too am glad you are feeling better.
