We stayed at Leanne and John's house. The kids loved having the dog around.

Saturday morning Chris woke me up and said Michelle and Cam were there to take us to the stop sign. The stop sign is a (9 mile roundtrip) trail that goes up Snow Canyon. I thought I had run it before - last October with Leanne, Maryann and Lauralee when we went 1.5 miles up and 1.5 back down. So I borrowed a pair of Leanne's running shoes, hopped out of bed and off we went. Something seemed suspicious when we parked at a different spot. I still thought I could do it (at this point thinking it was 6 miles total) since everyone in our family who lives in St. George runs this multiple times every week, while pushing double strollers full of kids (usually more than 2 kids per stroller). This trail makes it on to Leanne and Michelle's blogs regularly (AND Michelle is 5 months pregnant).
After 2.5 miles we got to the little stop sign at the end of the trail, the point where we turned around last time I went. The trail does end there, with no indication of any other stop signs. I was totally winded and relieved at the prospect of going downhill (I probably hadn't even run one mile total at this point -- it was all up hill and I was feeling it), when Cam informed us that the real stop sign was another 1.5 miles up the road. He and Chris took off running on the side of the road, but it was all I could do to keep walking up and up and up. My feet were aching and my legs were burning. Finally at the top we had the option to get a ride back down but, as Chris pointed out, that would be like making a cake and not being able to eat it, so we started running back down. At that point it felt good. We ran, then walked, and ran a little more, but by the time we were about 2 miles away from the parking lot I was ready to drop. It was so hard! Hard in a good way. We made it back and I must say that I have a whole new appreciation for my sisters-in-law who run this thing all the time. They are strong! I also have a renewed motivation to get exercising again. I'm still feeling the effects.
Saturday afternoon Maryann came over to give Leanne a new hairstyle and was nice enough to lighten my hair up as well. While we were at it, Lydia gave one of her little pony tails a trim. She was pretty happy with herself.
Chris, supposedly taking a picture of Leanne and I, took his own self-portrait.

It was a nice weekend, a good getaway, fun to see cousins and family.

We did have a good workout today. and we will be doing it again tomorrow. Cam rode his bike to and from work as well. I meant to ask you how you were on sun. Was chris very sore? How about the 5 K or 1/2 marathon in may? You could both totally do it. It was great as usual to have you guys down. It was so cute how brielle (she couldn't stop the tears)and bryson cried all through sacrament meeting because they were sad you were leaving. they sure love jordan and jemma. they also had soo much fun with Hooper. i love the blog you have been keeping up for Jordan. What a great way to document everything. now that the snow is melting we want to come up and visit :)
It sounds like a really nice, spontaneous getaway except for the running part.
