I know it's not normal to go to St. George via Long Beach and Las Vegas! But it's fun...to do once. The whole point was to enjoy the journey.
Don't they look like they're enjoying it already?
John and Leanne were blessing their new baby Brigham on Sunday. So we left home Saturday morning at 9. There was a long-ish layover in Long Beach (2 hours). I love the Long Beach Airport as a destination, but not for a layover because there really isn't anything to do there but wait. Luckily the flight from there to Vegas is really short.
We arrived in Las Vegas by 2:30 pm, rented a Mazda CX-9 and drove up the strip to get a look at all the oddities and wonders. We had dinner at Cafe Lago, Caesar's Palace, which included plenty of crab legs and a couple of l'escargots.

We took the kids to FAO Schwarz and went around all three levels looking at and playing with the toys. It was so fun! Jemma latched onto a little puppy (which can be seen in each picture following) and Jordan picked up on this skateboard-like plastic board (no wheels, but you can practice jumps and other tricks on it).
We got to St. George at 10 pm. Chris will tell you that it was a 13 hour trip. I will tell you that we weren't travelling the WHOLE time! It was like we had a mini vacation. We stayed at Cam and Michelle's house and Trey was the only kid awake when we got there. He and Jemma had a great time running around and playing.
Sunday was Brigham's blessing day. I should have a picture of him in his little white tuxedo, but somehow I missed it. You can see photos on Leanne's blog.
Jemma and Brielle had been so excited to see each other and were pretty much inseparable.

Our trip home began at 3 pm, leaving from St. George. We had to get there early to return the car at the amazing McCarren Airport Rent-A-Car Center (it's an engineering marvel). Then take a shuttle to the airport and a tram to the terminals - a journey in and of itself.

It was all worth the fun blog story! Cute pics too. It was very thoughtful of Jemma to get Brielle a little puppy too. She loves it! It is always fun to see you guys. While you have your flying benefits it's good to take advantage of it. It's fun memories for the kids. Like I said earlier I am sorry Meacham's are too practical and not very adventurous. I shouldn't speek for everyone. Chris is fortunate to have you or he would probably stay inside all day. Fun blog entry!
That's a seriously crazy day of travel, but definitely something different and fun.
